Find Your Freedom through
Structural Integration

Welcome to Session 4

“The fixation of fascia interferes with the energy flow that is the essence of life.” - Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D.

Session 4 of the Balanced Body series

Session 4 is the beginning of the deeper sessions. In the first three sessions, we addressed the superficial layers, now we move attention to deeper layers, the spaces between muscle groups as well as the interaction with bones. We will be exploring movement efficiency at this deeper level.

Focus

In Session 4, we are focused on the inner line of the body extending from the medial arch of the foot, through the inner leg and thigh, and up to the pelvic floor where it connects to the leg and hip bones.

This is the line that leads to the core of the body and initiates the conversation of how to move with ease using core muscles rather than efforting using bigger muscles.

Intention for Session 4: Find your Core

Terrain: medial ankle, knee, thigh, pelvic floor

Build up support and strength within your true core. The inner line of the feet, legs, and pelvic floor will release stress and become more balanced.

Theme: Soften

The theme of this session is SOFTEN. Softening does not mean weakening; this is more about ease. It is a balance between ease and effort, control and surrender. Softening any hard edges of life. Softening the inner critic. Finding ease within the core of yourself.

Thoughts to consider in preparation for this session:

Notice the center of your body including your pelvic floor if that is an area you can sense into.

Do you generally hold tight your abdominals and pelvic floor?

What feels like it needs to soften in your body?

What part of your life could use some softness brought to it?

What to wear

We will be working on the lower body, so underwear/loose-fitting shorts will be best.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I look forward to seeing you!

Warmly,

Cara
