Each session begins with an assessment of your current patterns, compensations, and structure. We discuss where you are today and create a personalized plan to fit where you want to go in life.
Structural Integration is interactive teamwork. I work with you not on you. You will get the most out of your sessions if you show up ready to explore your body patterns, release that which is ready to be released, and learn new movements to support your continued progress.
Education is one of the hallmarks of structural integration (rolfing) work. How the body moves in gravity, the names of muscles and how they work, easy movement practices to help you deepen the work away from the table, we discuss all of this and more.
My office is a safe, warm, and welcoming space where you can tune into your body and connect with what's going on inside. I offer a non-judgemental, calm, and caring environment of curiosity and exploration.
Structural Integration is different than standard massage therapy. Practitioners apply slow, controlled pressure in a very specific order to facilitate release from pain and reestablishment of the body alignment. The general consensus from past clients, and from my own experience is that where there is stuckness there will be an increased sensation. It is difficult to say how it will feel to you so I work with you to find your level of comfort. Together we discover and encourage a process of release that offers the beneficial and enduring results you are looking for.
As there is more movement involved in Structural Integration sessions than other types of massage, I recommend underwear/short shorts/loose-fitting athletic shorts and bras/bralettes/bandeaus/loose-fitting tank tops. Combine these suggestions into a rolfing outfit that feels the most comfortable for you and your body.
